Ad Limina Visit

Bishop-Elect Robert J. McClory joined Bishop Emeritus Dale J. Melczek and other bishops from the Midwest on their recent “ad limina” visit. More formally “ad limina apostolorum” meaning “to the threshold of the apostles” is trip required of bishops. Every five years, bishops are required to go to Rome, meet with the pope, and praying at the tombs of Sts. Peter and Paul.

Welcome to the Diocese!

MERRILLVILLE — Pope Francis today announced that he has selected Monsignor Robert J. McClory, a priest for the Archdiocese of Detroit, to serve as the fifth bishop of the Diocese of Gary.
Bishop-elect McClory will be introduced to the clergy, faithful and public today at a 10 a.m. press conference in Holy Angels Hall at the diocesan pastoral center by Bishop Emeritus Dale Melczek and Father Michael J. Yadron, diocesan administrator for the Diocese of Gary. The press conference will be available via livestream through the diocesan website, dcgary.org.
